Beltane falls around 1st May, halfway between the spring equinox and midsummer. Hawthorn blossom opens in the hedgerows, swallows cut low across the grass, and the days are lengthening. In the old calendar, this is the first day of summer. This Year R session plan marks it outdoors, through story, sensory exploration, and making.

Centred on the original folklore story May Eve and the Mischievous Fairies, the session moves children through a welcome circle and perimeter walk, the folklore story, fairy house building at the base of trees and hedges, Beltane weaving with natural materials, Moon Bread cooked at the fire, and a mindfulness close. Includes a welcome and goodbye song, detailed SEND adaptations, and full EYFS curriculum links.

A complete, ready-to-deliver outdoor session for Foundation Stage settings. Three hours.
